Meet The Artist or maybe not !
Hi, I’m Steve Royce Griffin, born 1960 in Ipswich , Suffolk. I studied at Ipswich Art School 1976-79, and have been a Member of the Orwell Art Club since 1992 and Felixstowe Art Club since 2009.
Art is very much in my family. My Great Great Grandfather Benjamin Fowler RCA was a founder member of the Royal Cumbrian Academy in Wales. Both my mother and sister studied at Ipswich Art School.
I like to paint and draw, usually quirky pictures. Some of my portraits are now in France, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Scotland, Isle of Man and Ireland.
In 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee I sent the late Queen a copy of a cartoon picture I had drawn of her and the late Prince Philip travelling through my village, and received a nice letter back from her lady in waiting. Also in 2002 I won a competition to design the logo for the Ipswich Beer Festival. The logo was used on all the beer glasses and t-shirts. In 2007 I had a “one man show” at the White Horse Pub in Capel St Mary.
Cheers, Steve
